Home Energy Audit - Custom built fan cover
Whole house fans were conceived as a way to keep air circulating through a home. Unfortunately, they don't do much beyond actively pull conditioned air into the attic when they're running, and passively allow air to leak through when they're off! At least their heart was in the right place. We built a custom cover out of 2" foam board, sealed along the joints and gasketed along the bottom, ensuring that air will no longer leak through the frame and grate of the fan.
